A veteran of Bay Area stages, Rod Gnapp most recently appeared as Stan in Sweat at American Conservatory Theater and as King Claudius in Hamlet and Helicanus in Pericles at Marin Shakespeare Company. Rod has done so many Shakespeare plays that he has lost count and he has played almost every clown and fool in the canon. But dreams can still come true, and playing Claudius this past summer was a dream indeed as it marked the very first time Rod ever played a Shakespearean King. And it was awesome. Recent credits also include The Realistic Joneses at A.C.T., The Eva Trilogy and Fool For Love at the Magic Theatre, and Seared at the San Francisco Playhouse. Theater credits include work at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, California Shakespeare Theater, San Jose Repertory Theatre, Marin Theatre Company, Aurora Theatre Company, TheatreWorks, Word for Word, the Huntington Theatre Company, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Virginia Playhouse, and Pittsburgh Public Theater. Gnapp can be seen in the Miller brothers’ independent feature film Touching Home with Ed Harris. He can also be seen in Valley of the Heart’s Delight, Calendar Confloption (Pixar), Back to the Streets of San Francisco and as a voice actor in Cars 3. He is the recipient of many San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards and is a graduate of the A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts Program.
